MTE annually awards the Gordon Bone Memorial SharingChange Scholarship to 10 students in our cooperative service area. The $2,000 scholarships are used to help students who plan to attend Tennessee two- or four-year accredited colleges or trade schools.
Interested students complete an application and write an essay of 200-300 words describing how the scholarship would help them achieve their personal goals. Applicants are judged on a point system that includes a financial needs assessment and review of the student’s grade-point average, community involvement, service leadership and essay score.
The scholarship is named in memory of Gordon Bone, a veteran MTE board member and longtime chairman. As a leader with a passion for the welfare of the co-op’s members, he is most credited for establishing MTE’s SharingChange foundation.
